Get your AI key

The Omnix AI assistant works with several providers. You bring your own key, so you only pay the provider for what you use — Omnix adds no markup. This guide covers creating the account + key on each provider's site.

Which provider?

• Groq — free tier, extremely fast. Best place to start. [console.groq.com](https://console.groq.com)
• OpenRouter — one key, access to many models, pay-as-you-go. [openrouter.ai](https://openrouter.ai)
• Anthropic (Claude) — highest answer quality, paid. [console.anthropic.com](https://console.anthropic.com)

Groq (recommended to start)

1. Go to [console.groq.com](https://console.groq.com) and sign up (Google sign-in works). 2. In the console sidebar, open API Keys. 3. Click Create API Key, name it "Omnix", and copy the key (starts with `gsk_…`). It's shown once — copy it now. 4. Groq's free tier needs no card. For higher limits, add billing under Settings → Billing.

OpenRouter

1. Go to [openrouter.ai](https://openrouter.ai) and sign up. 2. Add credit under Credits (pay-as-you-go; start with a few dollars). 3. Open Keys → Create Key, name it, and copy the key (starts with `sk-or-…`).

Anthropic (Claude)

1. Go to [console.anthropic.com](https://console.anthropic.com) and sign up. 2. Add a payment method under Billing and buy credits. 3. Open API Keys → Create Key, name it, and copy the key (starts with `sk-ant-…`).

Enter it in Omnix

1. Open Settings → AI. 2. Pick your provider from the dropdown. 3. Paste the key and save. Omnix stores it encrypted on your machine. 4. Press Ctrl+J anywhere to open the assistant.

Cost control

Set a spending limit in your provider's dashboard. The assistant is opt-in per query — it never calls the provider unless you ask it something.
